HOMETOWN HERO — Mike Walsh
How long have you been a member of HTFD-23 and why did you join?
Since About 2004.
I have always wanted to be a firefighter since I was a kid going to the firehouse with my uncle in Lindenwold, NJ where he was The Chief for 20+ years!
I have worked my way through the ranks and now serve as Battalion Chief at Ewan Fire Company.
I also followed my dream and was hired in 2014 By Anne Arundel County Fire Department in Maryland where I am currently assigned to Herald Harbor Station 6.
I decided to join HTFD-23 after 9/11. Few of my friends were inspired to join the military but I wanted to serve in a different way. I had a few friends that were in HTFD-23 at the time and I decided to ask and show up on a Tuesday night. The rest is history.
