Hometown Hero: Joe Marchei,
Deputy District Fire Chief
How long have you been a member of HTFD-23 and why did you join?
I joined 14 years ago – for me it is all about service.
What is the best part about being part of HTFD-23?
Being part of a second family. The fire department is a close group, and we work together as a team. I also enjoy mentoring new members.
What do you do like to do when you’re not volunteering as a Hometown Hero?
I enjoy my family time most of all with my wife and kids. We spend a lot of time at “The River” (my father’s house). I am also an avid hunter.
Who would you say is the most influential person in your life and why?
Hard to separate my father and grandfather as they were both influential in the person I am today and my decision to be part of the fire department.
What are your 3 favorite movies?
Well, I only have 2 – old school Batman with Adam West and Days of Thunder.
Stranded on a desert island – what ONE musical artist would you want to listen to?
Most people would not believe this but Kid Rock!
What is your favorite team to cheer for and against?
Of course, I pull for the Eagles and no question always against the Cowboys.
If you could have a meal and any 3 people dead or alive – who would you choose?
Both of my grandfathers and The King – Richard Petty.
If you had 3 magic beans – what would you wish for?
Good health for me and my family – we will call that two. The last one, just enough money to have fun with and be happy.
